At Biofuture, we envision a world where all food packaging is made from renewable resources, and waste can be a reused as part of the circular economy instead of polluting the earth. Increasing the use of compostable packaging will help to safeguard our forests and our future.
We want to be a part of the solution by helping our customers make conscious decisions to purchase fully compostable packaging. Our vision is based upon creating products that are manufactured responsibly with materials that utilise the strength of nature.

Biofuture products are manufactured using:
Sustainable Materials - Every Biofuture product is certified and designed for the circular economy, utilising renewable plants and paper from responsibly managed forests.
Innovative Production Techniques - Our dedicated team keep up with the latest scientific innovations to ensure we are bringing customers the most sustainable products.
Quality and Safety Standards – Our accredited certifications not only meet, but exceed global sustainability standards, ensuring that our packaging solutions contribute positively to the environment.
Continuous Improvement – We use the latest bioplastic technology in our products to make our solutions as effective as possible. We are constantly investigating innovative methods to reveal more sustainable raw materials, transport, and disposal practices.
Collaboration and Transparency - We work with businesses to navigate the approaching transition and direct some of their sizeable resources towards building a brighter future.
Oscar Smith, managing director of Biofuture, started the business after a sudden realisation when walking around the English countryside:
“My vision for Biofuture started during a day of adversity and clarity. I was driving through the scenic English countryside when a punctured tyre forced me to walk the rest of the way. While on the brief journey home, I became deeply troubled observing the magnitude of litter ruining our treasured natural environment. Once I returned home, I did some research and discovered the true scale of the problem.
“It became clear to me that change is imperative to protect the Earth’s beauty for ourselves and future generations. I envisioned a business that focused on protecting the planet. A business which would contribute to the broader environmental battle by helping businesses reduce their impact on the planet.
“According to European Bio Plastics, ‘packaging remains the largest market segment for bioplastics with 45 percent (1.12 million tonnes) of the total bioplastics market in 2024’. There is a real opportunity for Biofuture to inspire the change that the planet desperately needs.
"At current rates, around 22 million tonnes of plastic waste leaks into our environment annually. Non-OECD countries account for 86% of the plastic leakage, driven mainly by the high amount of mismanaged waste ending up in the environment. This has doubled since 2000 and plastic leakage to the environment is projected to double to 44 million tonnes each year.
“I am incredibly proud of the journey Biofuture has taken to create and certificate our range of 100% compostable food and drink packaging solutions. I am convinced that Biofuture will be a key part of the movement towards a circular economy and work together with leading ethical businesses to further the message of responsible consumption across the world,” said Oscar.
