The Biofuture team had the privilege of working with The Shed, a fantastic café in the heart of Sawbridgeworth. The owner, Juliet, is passionate about reducing plastic usage and minimising the environmental footprint of the business.

Their efforts have led to a significant reduction in plastic waste, with all packaging now transitioned to compostable alternatives, including cling film, bin liners, cups, kraft takeaway boxes, and cutlery sets. This is a testament to their commitment to a greener, more sustainable business model.

Juliet, the owner of The Shed, is delighted with the adoption of the Biofuture products:

“Oscar expertly facilitated the switch from plastic to compostable products, making the transition smooth and efficient. Our entire range of service items have now been converted to compostable alternatives.

“Despite the slightly higher initial costs, the investment has paid off significantly, with a notable boost in sales. Customers have positively responded to our eco-friendly shift, and their feedback is a testament to the success of our sustainability efforts,” said Juliet.

Oscar Smith, managing director of Biofuture, is pleased with the impact of the range of products at The Shed:

“Juliet has made fantastic efforts to positively impact the environment, and her adoption of sustainable packaging has not gone unnoticed. The customers, who have been instrumental in supporting their eco-friendly initiatives, have praised the business. This has not only elevated their brand but also set a shining example in the industry.

“Our range of food and drink packaging solutions are 100% compostable and are designed with absolute environmental responsibility in mind. For a material to be certified compostable, and not just plain biodegradable, it must be amenable to degrading into natural, harmless elements under specific conditions within 12 weeks.

“Compostable packaging is capable of detaching economic growth from needless finite resource consumption and environmental damage. Biofuture packaging is calibrated to meet the optimum balance of functional reliability and disintegration speed, so is an ideal solution for restaurants and cafés that serve takeaway food and drink.

“Working with ethically minded businesses like The Shed gives Biofuture the opportunity to inspire change and create a more sustainable culture,” said Oscar.
